Picklefinance: Wind-Down Responsibilities

Updated

DeFi yield aggregator Pickle Finance asked depositors to withdraw Jar funds in its June 2025 wind-down notice. Depositors handle their position exits, while a separate Ethereum contract handles USDC treasury claims for wallets whose aggregate eligible balance exceeded 300 PICKLE in the June 10, 2025 snapshot.

Who Initiates a Farm or Jar Exit?

The depositor initiates the transactions for the position. Pickle Finance's older Jars and Farms Walkthrough distinguished these operations:

Unstake
For pJar tokens staked in a Farm, this control returned the receipt tokens to the wallet without claiming earned PICKLE.
Harvest and exit
For the same type of pJar Farm position, this control returned the staked pJar tokens and claimed earned PICKLE together. Jar redemption remained a separate operation.
Jar Withdrawal
A Jar withdrawal redeems pJar shares for the Jar's underlying asset. If that asset is an LP token, removing liquidity from its underlying pool is a further action.

Which Holdings Qualify for Treasury USDC?

The announced distribution allocated 170,280 USDC proportionally to eligible token holders. Eligibility depended on an aggregate qualifying balance strictly greater than 300 PICKLE in the June 10, 2025 snapshot. The covered holdings were:

Wallet PICKLE
PICKLE held on Ethereum, Arbitrum or Polygon.
PICKLE Locked for DILL
The underlying locked PICKLE amount counted regardless of lock duration or status. The allocation used that PICKLE amount rather than the time-weighted DILL voting balance.
PICKLE in Specified LP Positions
PICKLE held in liquidity positions on Uniswap and SushiSwap on Ethereum or Balancer on Arbitrum. The qualifying quantity was the PICKLE represented by those positions.

A present wallet balance alone does not establish entitlement under that snapshot. The treasury allocation is separate from the assets represented by a Jar receipt.

What Did the Frontend Cutoff Cover?

Pickle Finance's June 11, 2025 closure announcement scheduled the interface shutdown for October 1, 2025 and asked users to withdraw Jar funds beforehand. It described direct contract interaction for Jar withdrawals after that date.

For treasury claims, the announcement said the distribution contract would remain active indefinitely. It described direct claims using published Merkle proofs and also allowed for access through third-party interfaces. October 1, 2025 was the scheduled frontend cutoff, not a treasury-claim expiry.

Ethereum Treasury Distribution Contract

What Support Did the Team Offer?

Pickle Finance offered help with distribution questions until the end of the distribution period. Its statement that the claim contract would remain active indefinitely applied to contract access; it did not promise indefinite team support.

Exit Decision Checklist

  • If pJar tokens are staked in a Farm, distinguish unstaking alone from the documented combined action that also claims earned PICKLE.
  • If a Jar returns LP tokens, account for the remaining liquidity-pool position when deciding whether the exit is complete.
  • For a treasury claim, check the eligible wallet's snapshot allocation, including the strictly greater-than-300-PICKLE aggregate threshold.
  • If the frontend is unavailable, distinguish the position's Jar contracts from the Ethereum treasury distributor and its published Merkle proofs.
