Picklefinance DILL
DILL was Pickle Finance's vote-escrow balance for time-locked PICKLE. Its voting weight declined linearly as the lock approached expiry, while that scheduled decay left the quantity of locked PICKLE unchanged. Pickle Finance announced its wind-down in June 2025, with underlying locked PICKLE counted toward a USDC treasury distribution for eligible holders.
Why Did the DILL Balance Decline?
DILL weighted locked PICKLE by the time remaining in its lock. For the same amount of locked PICKLE, a longer remaining term produced more DILL. Locks could last up to four years, and the DILL balance decreased linearly toward zero as expiry approached.
The declining number measured a reduction in time-weighted voting power. The underlying PICKLE amount did not decay and became available for withdrawal at lock expiry.
What Could DILL Holders Change?
Lock holders could counteract DILL decay in the legacy system by extending the lock or adding PICKLE. Extending changed the remaining commitment, while adding tokens increased the amount subject to the lock.
The locking rules prevented holders from shortening an existing lock, reducing its locked PICKLE amount before expiry or transferring the DILL balance to another wallet. Creating a lock and subsequently extending or increasing it were irreversible actions.
Voting Power and Governance Limits
One DILL represented one vote in the documented governance model. Holders could vote on Pickle Improvement Proposals covering matters such as grants and emissions. A passed proposal remained nonbinding and depended on the team's agreement to execute it.
Direct on-chain authority had a specific scope in the legacy setup described by the DILL guide: the Gauge Proxy controlled how emissions were allocated to Ethereum mainnet Farms. That setup did not give DILL direct control over farming emissions outside Ethereum mainnet or emissions used outside Farms.
Farm Boosts and Revenue Sharing
DILL's legacy benefits included protocol revenue sharing and boosted PICKLE rewards for Farm stakes. In the documented Farm model, the boost could reach 2.5x on the PICKLE emission component. It did not multiply the Jar's underlying compounding yield or the entire displayed APY.
The actual boost depended on the holder's share of total DILL and share of deposits in the particular Farm. The same DILL balance could therefore produce different boosts across Farms. Holding DILL alone did not guarantee the maximum multiplier.
How Did the Wind-Down Count Locked PICKLE?
Pickle Finance's Pickle Finance: Closing the Jar, published June 11, 2025, announced a proportional distribution of 170,280 USDC from the treasury. For DILL holders, the calculation counted the underlying locked PICKLE amount regardless of lock duration or status. The decaying DILL voting balance was therefore a different measure from the balance used for treasury allocation.
Eligibility required a wallet's aggregate qualifying balance to be strictly greater than 300 PICKLE in the June 10, 2025 snapshot. Covered holdings included direct PICKLE balances on Ethereum, Arbitrum and Polygon, locked PICKLE represented by DILL and PICKLE in the specified Ethereum mainnet Uniswap and SushiSwap LP positions and Arbitrum Balancer LP positions.
The announcement scheduled the frontend cutoff for October 1, 2025. It stated that the Ethereum treasury claim contract would remain active indefinitely and that claims after the interface shutdown would be possible through direct contract interaction using the published Merkle proofs. That statement concerned treasury claims; it did not make the earlier governance and Farm benefits a continuing yield offer.
DILL Decision Checklist
- For a falling DILL balance, distinguish the remaining lock-time weighting from the quantity of PICKLE locked.
- For historical Farm returns, separate the PICKLE incentive boost from Jar yield and account for the holder's relative DILL and Farm deposit shares.
- For treasury eligibility, use the June 10, 2025 qualifying snapshot balance and the strict greater-than-300-PICKLE threshold. Locked PICKLE counted regardless of lock duration or status.
